Walter the Cane & doTerra Oils
So my story begins in 2013 and lasted for about 2 years. This is when Walter came into my life. No, Walter is not a man…but a Cane. Yes, you heard me right, I said a Cane. Now, let’s pause for a sec…you name your inanimate objects too, right?!! Like your car…your blender…your_________ fill in the blank. Even Amazon has a name for their Echo Dot…Alexa!
So, back to Walter. You see, I have been a Massage Therapist for over 20 years. I have had the pleasure of working in various places such as Chiropractic offices, my own private practice, day spas and an extremely high end luxurious destination spa. It was the destination spa that brought me and Walter together.
Let me just say right up front that extension cords are not a brilliant idea number one, and especially in a professional spa setting, number two. This awesome destination spa (which shall remain nameless because it actually is awesome and I enjoyed working there for over 5 years and probably would still be there if we lived in California – which we don’t) specialized in full body wraps, in beautiful rooms with beautiful music and using beautiful products. While performing said body wrap, you have to walk round and round and round the table, all the while trying to step over the extension cord on the ground which was attached to a tool you were using on your client. You can tell things are going to go bad right away, right?!!
It was during the last round about that my knee protested, it clicked, it popped and then immense pain was felt. Not good. At this point I was able to sit down to massage my clients head which did relieve some of the pain but I could feel my knee begin to swell. After the Body Wrap with my client was complete I immediately took anti-inflammatories and iced my knee. But the damage was already done. That my friends is how Walter the Cane came into my life. And that is also how I found doTerra Essential Oils.
[Tweet “Out of a negative, comes a positive. There is always a silver lining, always.”]
The next two years were filled with Doctor visits, Physical Therapy, pain, swelling, not being able to walk or move well (not even while sleeping), more pain, more Doctor visits, and tons of x-rays. And Walter the Cane and doTerra helped me through it all. Walter was my constant companion, faithful and steadfast. Giving me the confidence to walk and move and to help me with stairs, steps and getting into bed. Walter went everywhere with me. I was never without my Walter.
My Doctors had put me on high doses of anti-inflammatories and pain relief medication, none of which I was thrilled about taking but it was needed for me to function. During this time I discovered doTerra Essential Oils on the internet. I had seen an advertisement for an online class featuring the oil blend Deep Blue. What caught my attention was that this oil blend was able to bring pain relief. Well, well now…I had been wanting to get off (or drastically reduce) the pain killers my Doctors had me on for quite a while. Being involved in the health and wellness industry for over 2 decades I knew the dangers of prescription pain relief medication and I was at the point that I would try anything, so I did…I tried essential oils.
I signed up for the class and enjoyed it thoroughly and learned so much and decided to make the leap. I was already at my proverbial bottom of the barrel and desperately needed help. I had nothing to lose but about $100.00. That day changed my life forever. A week later my oils came, I promptly googled a good pain relief roller bottle recipe that included Deep Blue and the rest is as they say…history.
If you have ever lived through an injury that also included huge amounts of pain, well you will understand when I say that the moment I applied that roller bottle to my knee: angels sang, flowers started blooming in winter and I was walking on clouds. Translation: I was relieved of a large majority of my pain, and almost instantly. This was an amazing eye opener for me, I had been in pain for so very long, along with feeling of being “drugged” and this was not something I could continue doing and didn’t like what was happening to me. Neither did my family. With the Deep Blue roller bottle I had obtained relief in just minutes, something that I had not had in months and months. Mind blown.
The recipe I was using (You can get yours down below) also included doTerra’s Frankincense essential oil which apparently is known for its anti-inflammatory and healing properties. These two oils combined were now my best friends. Roller bottles started appearing everywhere; kitchen, the bathroom, my bed side table, in the living room by my side, at the desk and in the car. Plus a few bottles were stashed in pockets and purses for good measure. I never…ever…did not have a roller bottle with me. Seriously! Walter was jealous.
I got progressively better as the days, weeks and months went by. I attributed a large part of my recovery to the essential oils working their magic. Two plus years of my life were lost, my career as a professional massage therapist had come to an end, but the silver lining (and there is always one) was finding doTerra Essential Oils. And Walter retired.
Here’s your recipe, use frequently to help alleviate pain symptoms.
P.S. Update as of 10/01/2019: I am so pleased to say that I avoided surgery, and have continued to be 99.9% pain free in my knee. And, the newest silver lining? I am blessed to be massaging again, dreams really do come true. Thank you doTerra!
